Poached Pears With CoroWise cholesterol reducers Poached Pears With CoroWise™ cholesterol reducers
8 Servings

4 pears Fresh, firm and ripe (Anjou Or Bartlett)
3 cups Minute Maid® Premium
Heart Wise® Orange Juice
4 Tbsp Brown Sugar
1 whole Cinnamon Stick
3 whole Cloves
¼ tsp whole Black Peppercorns
1 whole Star Anise

Procedure:
1. Preheat oven to 325° F.
2. Peel, halve and core pears. Place in a 9x13 baking pan.
3. In a small saucepan, add orange juice, brown sugar, cinnamon stick, cloves, peppercorns, and star anise.
4. Heat orange juice mixture on medium heat, stirring occasionally until sugar is dissolved. Simmer for about 3 minutes.
5. Pour liquid over pears and place pears and liquid in preheated oven.
6. Bake for 25 minutes.
7. Remove from oven.
8. Serve pears warm with 3 oz. of liquid* or to serve chilled, turn over each pear in the pan, allow to cool, cover with plastic wrap, and chill in refrigerator.
*Remove spices from poaching liquid before serving.
